Dale Stafford’s pioneering spirit ld to premier triumphs throughout his career.
He was MSU’s first athletic publicity director while still a student and became the Pontiac Press’ first photographer in 1929.
A subsequent job as Associated Press sports editor landed him the same position at the Detroit Free Press. Four years later, he became managing editor.
Under Stafford’s direction, offset printing made its debut at the Greenville Daily News in the early 1950s. The Daily News became a model and Stafford was sought as a lecturer worldwide.
He was presented MSU’s distinguish Alumni Award in the late 1960s.
