Inducted in 1985
publisher, Lapeer County Press
Bob Myers began working at the Lapeer County Press when it was owned by his father. His first chore was emptying wastebaskets.
Over the years, he edited and published the Press, “America’s Largest County Weekly.” His work strengthened Myers’ reputation as one of the most innovative weekly operators in the U.S.
From his Great Teachers Award to his weekly reader opinion page, “Sound Off!”, Myers maintains high standards for country journalism. His influence pervades a mixture of all types of news, much of which he writes.
A phenomenal readership of nearly 100 percent illustrates the wisdom of Myers’ trademark key to success: “Give the readers what they want.”
