Donald J. Hoenshell (1923-1980) was vice president and editorial director of the Panax Corporation. A Michigan native and graduate of MSU, he was noted for his exuberance and willingness to teach young reporters, whether they worked for him or a competitor. He was a well-known Michigan statehouse reporter-editor. His career spanned more than three decades and included his stints at the Alpena News,Midland Daily News, The Detroit News, Lansing State Journal, Observer-Eccentric Newspapers and the Sacramento Union. Hoenshell also received the distinguished alumni award from the MSU College of Communication Arts and Sciences.
